Great news if you own a Blackberry. I have finally figured out how to set up your Blackberry to sync with Ubuntu.
Here are the following step by step instructions:
Setting up an account with Scheduleworld.
Step 1. go to http://www.scheduleworld.com/tg/signupHome.jsp and sign up for a free account with ScheduleWorld.
Step 2. Next, go to your Blackberry's browser and go to this address: http://my.funambol.com/bb/plugin.jad, and download the Funambol Blackberry PIM Plugin.
Step 3. Once downloaded and installed to your Blackberry, open the Funambol Blackberry Plug-in, click on the Menu button, click on settings.
Step 4. In the Server Location field, put in http://sync.scheduleworld.com/funambol/ds. Next put your Scheduleworld account number into the username field. Then, enter your password in the Password field. then place a check mark into the contacts, calendar, tasks, and notes boxes. Click the menu button, click on Save.
Congrats, you have created and configured and setup a Scheduleworld account.
Installing SyncEvolution
Step 1. Open your home folder, click on view, then click on show hidden files. Create a folder called .sync4j, open this folder and create another file folder called evolution.
Step 2. Log out of your desktop and log back in as root.
Step 3. Open Firefox, enter this link here: http://www.estamos.de/download/syncevolution/evolution/syncevolution-0.7-evolution-2.12.tar.gz. Save file to your desktop.
Step 4. Double click on the downloaded file. Extract the file to your desktop.
Step 5. Open extracted folder and you will see 2 folders. bin, and share. Go to bin first. There you will see 2 files, synccompare and syncevolution. Move those 2 files to your /bin folder in the file system. next open the share folder, inside will be a doc folder, open it, you will see a folder called syncevolution. Move this file to the /usr/share/doc directory under filesystem. Next, open the syncevolution file in the doc directory and you will see a folder called scheduleworld. Rename this folder scheduleworld_1. Log out of root, log back in under your regular user name.
Step 6. After you log back in to your regular log in, go back into the /usr/share/doc directory, right click on the scheduleworld_1 folder and click copy, paste the copy into the home/.sync4j/evolution folder.
Step 7. Open the scheduleworld_1 folder, inside you will see a folder called "spds". Now we have two folders, "sources" and "syncml". Open the syncml folder first. Notice the config.txt file? Open it.
Replace line 5 with the following:
syncURL = http://sync.scheduleworld.com/funambol/ds
username = (your scheduleworld #)
password = (your password)
Save the file.
Step 8. Now, go back to the /home/.sync4j/evolution/scheduleworld_1/spds/sources directory. open each of the folders, address, calendar, memo, and todo. click on the config.txt files and open them. When each one is open and saved, it will save the configuration. DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING, ONLY OPEN THE FILES AND CLICK ON SAVE. Once this is done, close out the home directory.
Step 9. Finally, you might want to create a desktop icon for this command so you don't have to keep doing opening the Terminal each time you want to sync. Right click on the desktop, click on create launcher. click on the "Type" dropdown menu, choose "Application in Terminal", then in the Name field, type in SyncEvolution, then under command put in syncevolution scheduleworld_1. Then click OK.
Step 10. After all this is set up, it is time to test drive what you have done. Now it's time to see if it works.. On your Blackberry, go to the Funambol Blackberry Plugin and click on it. Once inside, click on the menu button or trackwheel, click on settings. in settings, put a check mark in contacts, notes, calendar, and tasks, click the trackwheel or menu button, and click save. this will take you back into the main screen of the plugin. click the trackwheel or menu button again and click on Synchronise.
Step 11. Once synchronisation is completed, go back to your computer, double click on the SyncEvolution shortcut you created. This will download all your PIM data from Contacts, Notes, Calendar, and Tasks into Evolution.
Step 12. Once this process is completed, open up Evolution and check your data.
Bingo! You have successfully set up your Blackberry to sync with Ubuntu.
