I just began using Inkscape vector graphic suite about a day ago. With it, I realized that I could make something more efficiently than OpenOffice.Org Draw and easily create graphical objects 100% easier than Gimp. Below is a screencap of the Inkscape UI.

Inkscape is a point and draw application, Wikipedia defines vector graphics as "the use of geometrical primitives such as points, lines, curves, and shapes or polygon(s), which are all based upon mathematical equations, to represent images in computer graphics." Unlike pixels which will lose quality as you zoom into or out of images using them, the vector mathematical theorems hold the images quality even under close inspection. Two examples of this being this image of the flier under very close inspection (and very fine tuning) as well as this image of the flier zoomed father out. Both retain their respective readability and clarity. (Examples below) Which gave me the idea to apply this to the flier....

I have said I was working on preliminairy versions of fliers to place around the school, well I scratched together one using OpenOffice.Org Draw...with mixed results.

After about 2 hours messing with Inkscape, I had this:

Simplistic, and small. but not bad being built completely from scratch. Let me know what you think, I am definitely sure it needs a few edits.

HAHA! I love that, it would go great with the Geek flier!

think Ubuntu, Fedora, Red Hat logos would be fine because they are the popular distros. Including Red Hat logo should be given a considerable amount of thoughts because it's no more a free distro but people know Red Hat very well. Suse logo looks so ugly, I personally don't like it at all.

Just got this idea - BSOD flier.

Just to keep my head rolling!

I considered that, and I might actually make one modeling the a simplistic gnome UI, or something graphical as well. considering how small I made the Terminal flier, I have a lot of real estate to work with still. As you said, it was primarily focused on Linux geeks.

Shifting the text block wont be a problem, I may actually start a forum discussion after I make the changes to bring in new input. Adding logos was a thought, however I am not sure which flavors I should focus on, any ideas maybe helpful!

Pretty impressive! I loved the way you presented the message - typical Linux way. Two comments from my side: showing terminal might frighten newbies thinking that Linux still is there where they left 5 years ago. It will surely attract the attention of Linux geeks though. Second: I will like to see 'Weekly Meetings...' text block shifted toward right side a bit. And what about adding logos on top of boiseubuntu.ning.com? Logos of different Linux flavors?
