Since I don't use Evolution mail client provided with my generic install, some websites attempt to open it for emailing them (generally for job applications) forcing me to copy and paste information into my gmail account. I found this script which will allow the user to switch your default email client.

When I posted this I hadn't tested it under my current version, after looking at the actual source poster and binding some keys to automatically open my email client I was able to make this script function. What happened when I attempted to execute the script I linked earlier is that the script needed to be executable and the gmail link itself within the script wasn't correct. When I was testing the script using my newly set up keybindings, I found that the script would either not execute (which can be changed either using chmod or the scripts properties), it would execute, and generate an error, or execute and work but not bring up my gmail causing the page to halt loading.
Here is the link to the source write-up about how to make this scri...
The only change I made after adding this script was to change the link he used within the script. Currently the link within the script reads
https://mail.google.com/mail?view=cm&tf=0&to=, however, when the script ran, it caused an error for me brining up the page, what I changed was to remove the extra text behind
https://mail.google.com/. This loaded my gmail as if I clicked a link to it. For anyone setting this up, I hope that helps clear up any problems.
