I have no idea where all of you came from, but we are very happy to have this much support!
We're meeting this Saturday, and I will have a more structured format to follow through the meetings, I promise. If you attended last week, I'm expecting you to bring a "show and tell." or a tutorial for the rest of us.
We're Meeting this Saturday @ 3pm second floor of the ILC.
Thanks,
Trent

As you may already know, April 24th is the release date for Ubuntu 8.04! We've got a lot of stuff to do before then!
I want to put up some flyers around campus, letting people know about the release with our group address as well! there are Ubuntu users out there! Phil found me and joined our ranks recently.
For this Saturday, I'd like to design the flyer, and write an article about Hardy Heron. (I submitted the opinion article to the arbiter, but I don't know if they'll publish it). Then we a…

I want to have another meeting, (like meet every other week or so). But this time I think we can assign some tasks for each of us to do. That way we can start to make some real progress.
Ryan told me he's very close to having a customized operating system done.
Education topics:
-Back up programs (for ryan especially).
-Terminal education and linux commands
-New flyers,
-appearance in front of student senate.
Saturday @ 3pm ILC Room 205.

One of my friends saw me playing with Compiz-Fusion effects in Ubuntu on Saturday and was pretty much impressed with Ubuntu when I detailed him some more advantages of using Linux OS. He came yesterday with his laptop to get Ubuntu installed. He was more than satisfied with all the things. He was very proud not to be called 'Pirate' any more. His friend had told him that he need to spend a lot of time tweaking Linux OS to work for him; installing library files, install each and every codecs manu…

The first hurdle you come across when you think of using Linux is not
'to know how to install' it, but you will be confused
'whether to install or not'. The benefits of using Open Source Software are great. You hear a lot about them and you think to give it a go for a test. But when you know you have to burn the .ISO file into a CD/DVD, you start scratching your head. Why to waste a CD/DVD when you are not sure you will be using it or not? Also, for people like me, who like to tast…

Since I don't use Evolution mail client provided with my generic install, some websites attempt to open it for emailing them (generally for job applications) forcing me to copy and paste information into my gmail account. I found this script which will allow the user to switch your default email client.

What can Ubuntu do for you? You mean what CAN'T it do? Installs on nearly any PC (desktop or laptop) and with a little orientation functions like Windows, only without to many problems with malware, viral attacks, or crashes and lockups associated with Windows. Can't live without your favorite Windows games and programs? Emulation software easily fixes that (like say perhaps, Fallout?).
